IPM Sri Lanka inducts new members

IPM Sri Lanka – the nation’s leader in human resources management – inducted 37 new members at the 2015 New Member Induction and Certificate Awarding Ceremony held on February 11, 2016 at the auditorium of IPM Sri Lanka’s head office ‘HR House’ in Polhengoda, Colombo 5. The new members inducted at this ceremony included HR professionals attached to blue-chip organisations in diverse industry segments in both the public and private sectors in Sri Lanka.

The ceremony was graced by President Rohitha Amarapala, Vice President Shanaka Fernando, Honorary Secretary C. Gannile, Honorary Treasurer Group Captain K.W. Kirinde, Honorary Assistant Secretary Aruna Dayanatha, Deputy Chairman Membership Development Committee Namal Jayaweera together with Himal Perera and other Members of the Membership Development Committee, Guest Speaker U. Bandula Perera FIPM (SL) Group General Manager HR and Administration, Maliban Biscuit Manufacturers and other distinguished Members and Fellows of IPM Sri Lanka.

“As one of the most active professional entities in Sri Lanka, which has a membership of over 1000 representing a cross section of Sri Lanka’s private and public sector organisations, government departments and NGOs, IPM Sri Lanka has much to offer its members. We consciously encourage and facilitate our membership to add value to themselves and IPM by engaging in HR-related research and development and to grow their own professional networks within and outside the country,” said Rohitha Amarapala addressing the new members at the ceremony.

“Yo u m a y w e l l r e c a l l a shining example of one of IPM’s distinguished fellows – Chris Obeyesekere – being recognized at a regional level having being awarded the very first Asia Pacific HR Professional of the Year 2015 Award recently by the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management (APFHRM) recently. Such awards bring glory and recognition to the individual as well as the country and we at IPM Sri Lanka are proud to facilitate such activities.

During the ceremony, Aruna Dayanatha – Honorary Assistant Secretary of IPM Sri Lanka briefed the new members of member benefits and IPM’s efforts in professional d e v e l o p m e n t b y o rg a n i s i n g HR-related workshops, seminars, conferences and consultations.

The 2015 New Member Induction and Certificate Awarding Ceremony was organised by the Membership Development Committee of IPM Sri Lanka as part of their initiatives for member recognition.

The committee also organises major initiatives such as membership drive, membership upgrade, membership benefits, member events and members services as part of their benefits and developmental efforts. IPM Sri Lanka keeps pace with the new trends and concepts in HR by engaging continuously with the business community to share experiences, thoughts and insights in order to enrich and enhance the HR profession. It actively encourages and promotes members’ participation at international conferences and fora to provide relevant exposure, build networks and conduct research into areas of interest to the HR profession in Sri Lanka.
