IPM Sri Lanka recently participated at the 50th anniversary celebrations of Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI) held in Singapore from 9th to 12th July at the Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore.
Chandra Gannile – Vice President, IPM Sri Lanka and Dillon Gomez – Executive Council Member, IPM Sri Lanka represented IPM at this mega regional HR event.
“As the leading professional body for human resources management in Sri Lanka, we ensure that we are represented at notable HR seminars and conferences in the region and the world in order to understand the current HR trends and thought processes in order to keep on learning and understanding the key trends in HR and its applicability for Sri Lanka. We consider it as our responsibility and duty to ensure that any new HR related trends that are beneficial and applicable in the Sri Lankan context is discussed and debated at our many professional forums” said Rohitha Amarapala-President, IPM Sri Lanka.
With over 3,000 HR professionals in the country, Singapore Human Resources Institute is one of the largest HR bodies in the Asia Pacific region with cutting edge HR architectural tools, best practices knowledge and professional programs for both private and public sector organizations. The 50th anniversary celebrations of the SHRI was branded as a mega, global HR seminar which included the Premier HR Awards Ceremony recognizing both the outstanding corporates as well as the HR professionals in the country.
The event was graced by the Guest of Honor Minister of Human Resources of the Government of Singapore - Lim Swee Say, Secretary General of the World Federation of People Management Association (WFPMA) and Chairman & National President of the Australia Human Resources Institute (AHRI) - Peter Wilson AMand a few other regional representatives.
“By participating at this event, we were able to gather some interesting information relevant to human resources management in Sri Lanka, and the key learnings will be shared amongst the membership of IPM Sri Lanka with a view to integrating key new HR topics into IPM’s professional study programs, seminars, workshops, research journals, IPM People Power Magazine and member recognition programs” said Chandra Gannile.
The keynote presentation at this global HR seminar was on “The 8 keys of Unlocking Value in the Age of HR Analytics” which was followed by presentations on “Facing HR Challenges for the Future – AGlobal Perspective with Special Reference to China, India, Japan, Australia, US and Singapore” and “Manage Manpower Challenges for the Future”. The seminar sessions also included presentations on timely topics such as War for Talent, Transformation of HR Analytics into Business Realities, Dynamics of Key Human Resources for the Development of Singapore in Private and Public Sector Interventionsand National Trade Union Chambers, Integration of Business Priorities with New Paradigm Shift of HR Architecture and Innovative HR for Business Growth,which were well received by local and overseas participants.
A special session on “Building HR Competencies for the 21stCentury - How to Unleash Power”focused on the ever changing landscape of HR, major shifts in HR, new HR competency models for the future, imperatives for HR as a function and paradigm shift in HR.
