IPM Sri Lanka – the nation’s leader in human resources management – signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently with Esoft Metro Campus - the leading IT training institute - to encourage greater IT proficiency amongst the HR community.
The agreement was signed by IPM Sri Lanka Chief Executive Officer Dyan Seneviratne and Esoft Metro Campus Chief Executive Officer Nishan Sembacuttiaratchy, at the IPM Sri Lanka head office in Colombo 5. Greater proficiency in IT will enable and empower the HR community to be more productive, employable and efficient in carrying out their day-to-day tasks.
“IT skills are a very necessary skill-set in any profession and is applicable to the HR profession too as most of the day-to-day as well as longer-term HR activities require well-honed skills in IT to be efficient and productive,” said IPM Sri Lanka President Rohitha Amarapala. “We are pleased to partner with a leading IT training institute such as Metro Campus in order to help fulfil our aspirations in upgrading the IT skills within the HR community,” he added. The IT training will encompass and include professional courses in Microsoft packages such as Microsoft Excel, which are required for reporting, documenting and researching HR-related activities. “IPM is keen on making HR more relevant in the business world by aiding the HR community to acquire relevant skills and knowledge vitally important in the business world. This initiative will also dispel the notion that HR professionals are perceived as living in a cocoon with only the knowledge of HR whilst the innovative business world moves in multi-polar directions. Therefore, it is essential that HR managers are equipped with other skills and knowledge eagerly sought by dynamic corporate entities,” said Seneviratne.
“As an established and experienced IT training institute, we have the necessary expertise, skills and resources to provide customized programmes for IT training. We are happy that IPM Sri Lanka has sought and obtained our services to achieve their objectives,” said Sembacuttiaratchy.
