Recognized as the No. 1 employer in the nation, Unilever Sri Lanka is reaffirming its commitment to empowering the country’s future business leaders by launching ‘Sparks’, a student ambassador programme for undergraduate students, for the second consecutive year.
Sparks will serve as an opportunity for undergraduate students to act as a liaison between Unilever and their respective university. It recognizes the top young talent around the country who have the passion to want more, do more and contribute more to become a great leader with a positive impact. This is an exclusive opportunity for undergraduates to develop real-world skills whilst building relationships with industry professionals and like-minded students.
“Being a SPARK, I am privileged to have got an opportunity to undergo several workshops on professional and personal training. I sure see myself as an influential leader and most importantly, I was able to inspire over 1000 students by making a difference in their lives to remember for a lifetime,” said Bilaal Hassan from the University of Kelaniya.
The invaluable experience and guidance that these students gain through Sparks will help them develop their skills in negotiating, stakeholder management and team working, while expanding their professional networks. These skills are applicable in a wide array of fields and the student ambassadors will find their employability greatly improved upon completion of the programme, as well as getting the opportunity to be fast tracked into a career at Unilever.
Speaking on the Sparks programme, Unilever Sri Lanka Director Human Resources and Corporate Relations Sameer Nagarajan stated, “We, at Unilever, see this programme as a reconfirmation of our commitment to the nation and its youth. Known for developing the next generation of leaders in Sri Lanka, we have a track record of moulding raw talent into remarkable future leaders. These student ambassadors will carry the lessons they learned into every aspect of their life and inspire them to contribute more towards the betterment of their communities and the nation.”
Applications for the programme are now open. Students from all universities across the island are invited to apply. For further details on Sparks log on to the Unilever Sri Lanka Careers Facebook page at www.facebook.com/UnileverCareersSriLanka.
