Residents of the Nallathanniya area are living in constant fear of possible dangers to their lives from a sounder of wild boars frequenting the town. They pointed out that several boars had sharp tusks with which anyone could be pierced to death.

The Victoria Reservoir, the main reservoir of the five hydropower reservoirs, spilled over this morning. Engineers in Charge of the reservoir said four automatic spill gates opened last morning releasing the excess water into the Mahaweli Ganga.
