Colombo, November 14 (Daily Mirror) - A total of 33 train services will be cancelled today due to the absence of train drivers and driver assistants, the Railways Department said.

Ten train services scheduled to run this morning were cancelled because the drivers and assistant drivers had not reported for duty, they stated.

Currently, 23 additional train journeys must be cancelled today due to the absence of drivers and driver assistants.

Accordingly, 13 train services on the main line, eight train services on the coastal line, six trains on the Puttalam line and another six trains on the Kelani Valley line will be cancelled today.

It is time to bring IT to Sri Lanka's transport system. In Singapore there is only a security guard as most railway stations. The trains are driverless which makes it safer than a human operator. Over to you Dr. Hans !

Sabotage activity by the opposition trade unions on the election day. It is high time that the Railway is set in right direction. Enough is enough. If peoole of this country do not want to contribute their effort in rebuilding it then no government can do it. Then blaming 76 years of governance will not work.
