Another sexual abuse case reported from Kataragama

Kataragama, August 15 (Daily Mirror) - A 19-year-old youth was arrested on Wednesday evening (14) by the Kataragama police on suspicion of having sexually abused a Grade 11 schoolgirl of the Kataragama National School.

The suspect is a resident of Raja Mawatha in Kataragama.

Police arrested the suspect during an investigation into a complaint from the principal of the school.

Investigations revealed that the incident had occurred about six months ago.

Under interrogation the 16-year-old girl had revealed that she had fallen in love with the suspect, who took her to the Detagamukanda area, where he had removed her clothes and embraced her. She stated that she was not raped.

However, she was referred to the Kataragama Hospital for a medical examination.

The suspect was to be produced before courts.
