Distorting of Karaniya Metta Sutta to be probed

Colombo, June 21 (Daily Mirror) - The Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministry requested the Police Cyber Crimes Unit, and the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) to carry out a probe into the distorting of the Karaniya Metta Sutta.

This action has been taken after the Ministry received complaints with regard to a video which is being circulated over Facebook and Tik Tok where it seems that the Karaniya Metta Sutta preached by the Buddha has been distorted using artificial intelligence (AI).

The Buddha Sasana Secretary Ministry, Religious and Cultural Affairs H.M.D.B. Herath said his Ministry had received a number of complaints in this regard.

Artificial Intelligence is like fire. One can use it to cook food or to burn your enemies house. Further experts say the revolutionary changes can be compared to how the world (that used horse carriages and lot of manual labour) would have experienced when the combustion engine was invented, and at a much faster speed. Need to teach ethics, values, only doing the right thing some serious lessons are now needed to be thought from junior school upwards. If not very soon our pranksters will be releasing distorted photos of all the strict teachers using AI.
