A fire broke out in a flat at the Salamulla housing scheme in Wellampitiya this morning, according to the Wellampitiya Police.

Residents of the area staged a protest near the flats, demanding a swift resolution to the issue. Some claimed that the fire was deliberately set to create difficulties for the current government.

However, the fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
