Colombo, July 24 (Daily Mirror) - The government has initiated distributing school textbooks to all government schools for the next academic year. 

The announcement was made by Education Minister Susil Premajayantha during the textbook distribution programme at the Pitipana warehouse today.

He said the distribution aims to provide textbooks to children on time. 

Under the new transformative education system, textbooks for Grades 1, 6 and 10, using a modular system, will be available by January 2025, he said.

The Minister also mentioned that the distribution of school uniforms for 2024 has been completed, with 80% of the uniforms donated by China. China has agreed to supply uniforms for 2025, saving the government Rs. 6 billion.
