Hon Minister / CB Governor should regulate a Financial Act on Online loan providers, as they are not under CB preview , but they Register as Pvt Ltd Company and do financial business (Lending) Online loans through web app for 35% to 55% Interest Rate per month from the customers is a “day light Debt Trap”. Such online loan Providers are Lotusloan.lk ,Oncredit.lk ,Ceylonloan.com, Cash X.lk ,Finoloan.lk, Monigo.lk, Loanplus.lk, Loanme.lk, fastrupee.lk ,Fino.lk Government /CB should intervene and Bring a law to recover the Exorbitant interest Paid by innocent customers in the Past and to return the excess paid interest to customers from the above Online loan lenders.

This information is sending jitters down the spine of opposition parties. They will definitely try to sabotage all future activities of NPP Government. We saw the parliament proceedings today where Dayasiri MP was wasting valuable time of the house. These are ways to delay and bring disrepute to the house.

If anyone is naive enough to believe by introducing various acts government can recover stolen assets either they are day dreaming or grossly ignorant. It is a long tedious process which will take years possibly about 10 to 15 years if the government is lucky. Firstly they need to create a special prosecutors office whose job is to investigate in association with international institutions and possibly follow STAR Initiative. Further change of governments should not be a factor. First find the haystack and then find the needle in that haystack. Not that it cannot be done. Few countries have recovered SOME assets never the full amount. It also requires inter governmental and inter agency cooperation. There are no shortcuts, miracles or DUES EX Machina.
