Heavy rains experienced in the Kalutara and Ratnapura districts have resulted in the overflow of the Kalu Ganga creating a minor flood situation in the low lying areas. 

The river has exceeded the flood level of 5.2 metres by 10.30 last morning.

The Colombo-Ratnapura main highway has gone under water at Pahanagawa at Puwakpitiya in Awissawella last morning. This has created a heavy traffic congestion on either side of the road. 

Low lying areas in Eheliyagoda, Kiriella, Kuruvita, Ratnapura, Elapath, Nivithigala, Pelmadulla, Kahawatta and Kalawana divisions have gone under water.
