Namal questioned over complaint from Malaysian businessman

The two-hour questioning of former Minister Namal Rajapaksa by the Criminal Investigation Department this morning was over a complaint lodged by a Malaysian businessman.

“The complaint was about an individual coming to my office between 2010-2015 and giving me money,” Rajapaksa said after he was questioned.

He claimed that he was not surprised by this summons.

“The political culture of this country is that when the government changes they summon those in the previous government and question them,” he added.

“There is no difference between this government and the Yahapalana government. They are summoning and asking the same things that they asked during that government.
