Colombo, August 20 (Daily Mirror) - Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

They said showers would occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-Western Provinces and in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. 

Even showers would occur in the Eastern, Uva and North-Central Provinces during the evening or night.

Fairly strong winds up to 40 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces and in the Hambantota district.

Therefore, the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
