President Anura Kumara Dissanayake adjourned the Sri Lankan Parliament until 9:30 a.m. on December 3.

The adjournment followed the President’s delivery of the government’s policy statement during the inaugural session of the 10th Parliament earlier today.

Why the close for ten days, after 10th Parliament first opened today. Is this another 'tradition', of inefficiency?

No!!?? Some feel that for every move, in a Democracy, there is bad Tradition and cause for Inefficiency!!?? This is to permit the new team to get together and formulate the New Governments’ Budget for forthcoming Year 2025, which has to be Presented to Parliament by the finance minister, which then has to be debated and approved by Majority of members and becomes the controlling Instrument of the Finances of the country by Legislature!!?? Perhaps, one would remember that the PM, lamented there was no Budgetary Provision for Increase in Public Service Wages, come January and this is the Budget Instrument that allocates those FUNDS!!?? This is NO time allocated for inefficiency by any means, though it's a 'Tradition' of any Participatory Democracy!!??

They just came in and formed a new government. Work has barely started and the results are yet to be seen. Already taking so many days off? I wish my job would let me do that!
