President Ranil Wickremesinghe accepted the challenge even when there is no reference in the Constitution as to what should be done when the country becomes bankrupt, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

Attending the 'Puluwan Sri Lanka' media conference held in Colombo, he said that the people were not asking for an election, but for the recovery of the country which had fallen into an economic abyss.

However, the President has fulfilled his responsibility, Pramajayantha added.

But who bankrupt it at the first place .. Is it people ? It is public? Is it military? Is it civil servants? Is it farmers? Is it business community? Is it a religious leaders ? First tell me who did all this to this beautiful country? First take 70% of Responsibility for all this economic disaster? But the point here is that Hon Ranil Wickremasinghe accepted the challenge when others were running away from it or making irrational and gratuitous demands to accept the challenge of leading the country at the hour of need (knowing very well that the conditions would never be met given the context prevailed at the zenith of the crisis). Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe brilliantly navigated the country from a maelstrom to an orderly situation with limited resources and all odds. Otherwise, we would have been another Bangladesh. The same people who were tremulous at that time now get on to election platforms and propound so many ideas and theories about economic management thanks to this great man, Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe.

Warren, at rallies Ranilr he goes on with his slogan that he took over challenge when others ran away. This is false. When Gota called Sajith, SJB knew the majority of MPs in the parliament were from the ruling party and they put forward conditions and one of them was he should dissolve the parliament within six months and call for general election, which was not acceptable to Gota as he didn't want to upset his party MPs. I agree with comments of Santh S. Ranil and his party were routed at the last G.Election, none of his MPs was elected and we all know how he of entered parliament. He knew his political aspirations were dead and with Mahinda's influence Gota offered him PMs pist and promptly accepted it. Now he boasts about his achievements but at what cost? 35% of the population can afford only one meal a day and more school going children hv opted to stay home as parents cannot afford to buy uniforms and books etc. Therefore, in short a new ppl's Prez should be elected.

How did you become bankrupt in the first place? There was a time when I met a Sri Lankan he/she would ask me "how did you do in the O' Levels (or A Levels)"? Sri Lankans were only interested in passing O/A Levels. They were not interested in actually learning and becoming smarter. This resulted in making unintelligent decisions and they elected a moron. Today, they are paying the price for their stupidity.
