President to meet Ambassadors, High Commissioners of seven countries today

Colombo, October 2 (Daily Mirror)- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to engage in talks with Ambassadors, High Commissioners and representatives from seven countries today, the President's Media Division (PMD) said.

The President will meet these foreign diplomats and representatives for discussions in line with the current government's policy of strengthening bilateral relations globally, the PMD said.

Ambassadors, High Commissioners and representatives from Cuba, the United Kingdom, Australia, China, Japan, Canada and India are expected to participate in these meetings.

here We got one (read my other comment), English does not give you the brain, honesty, or integrity that we need, we wasted so much, and country went bankrupt because we had English-speaking thugs and uneducated morons. There will be always haters... but good move by AKD that shows he is not anti-west.

If you think English speakers should come to power then you will never prosper as a nation. English is just a linguistic skill and we should never behave like slaves. We want a President who will do something for the country and not a person who blabbers in English but does not work. It is absolutely disgusting to see people honing on the President's ability to speak in English. We are fine with a President even if he cannot speak a word of English as long as he works for the betterment of the country. We all believe that President will deliver and the actual performance will be seen in the days to come.

Anura has excellent communication skills and he was able to convince millions to vote for him. Of course he speaks his mother tongue. He doesn't speak much English just like most Sri Lankans. This is mainly because English is not properly taught in most schools except for few city schools. I hope Anura will take every possible step to provide English language skills to rural children.
