Colombo, August 13 (Daily Mirror)- Samagi Jana Balawegaya(SJB) MP Rajitha Senaratne pledged his support to President Ranil Wickremesinghe today.

He arrived at the Gangaramaya Seema Malakaya with the President, where an agreement is to be signed.

It is good that the crooks and thieves are polarizing and getting in to a couple of 'baskets'. They do not have a large following except for their cronies and dependents. The ministers and MP's need not have any experience. Only should carry out the policy of the government without getting into enforcing them, which is the duty of the bureaucrats running the ministry. They should be competent and honest. This way People will be presented with a clear choice.

Individuals/parties could support any candidate, but what are the agreements, it should be unconditional support, without expecting, positions, benefits etc; after the elections, the entire people of this nation support a candidate of their choice, the elected president should work for the benefit of the people, not for the individuals who signed agreements, influencing any candidate amounts corruption.

You doubt your own sanity when you are repeatedly confronted with political chameleons like Dr. Senaratne! You feel like you are in a political madhouse, because you can no longer rationally explain this behavior to a normal-thinking citizen! Where do you see anything like uniqueness and character in such people, where do you see stability, predictability and honesty!!! As the saying goes: "Politics is a dirty business and corrupts people's character"!!! That is true of more or less every country, but in Sri Lanka at least they are at the top of it!!!

Rajitha stood steadfastly for a negotiated solution for NE problem throughout his career. In that he has the courage like late Vikramabahu. Second thing is under his management the health services improved beyond recognition. That is despite politically motivated opposition from GMOA. So much so that our diaspora, when they come for a vacation, get treated at our hispitals, at very little cost. Then they go back and deride the country! I think this is a good thing.
