Ranil slams Harini, asks her if she knows SL’s constitution
One wonders as to where Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has learnt the constitution, Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe said.
"Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has said it is necessary to obtain the approval of officials for the cabinet to make decisions on salary hike for public servants. One wonders where she has learnt about the constitution. It looks as if she is not aware of it. I can teach her if she wants to learn," Wickremesinghe said at a gathering in Pannala.
Also, Mr Wickremesinghe questioned as to what has become of the NPP led trade unions who fought for the rights of public servants during the past years.

RW's big talk about the constitution which he abused much more than his predecessors, threatening the judiciary being just a case in point. His knowledge of the constitution, his so called library at home and his half a century of public life was a sham as evidenced by his final rout last month. It's time to reopen the Batalanda files and inquiry and put this traitor in his proper place.

Here is a fellow who openly flouted the constitution by ignoring the supreme court decision in appointing the IGP and postponing elections when legally bound to conduct them trying to teach the new PM . A "Lawyer" who has not practiced a single day in his life and lost 31 elections and ruled the country without a mandate while suppressing people's right to protest with heavy handed police actions. A man who was in charge when Sri Lanka had the biggest financial heist in it's history and covered up for his friend demonstrating his knowledge of the constitution. Give us a break!!

Please the lady needs to be careful of unelected master debating unelected president on his double bed. He knows how to teach how to spend in mile high club according to the constitution. He’s well oiled well prepared for the steamy climate. His love machine is stopped working since presidential elections. Did RW act according to the constitution. Under auth of the constitution you allowed your minister to rob the Central bank. You knew the loopholes in the constitution more than anything and used it give Salary Hike as bait just before the presidential election to gain votes which miss fired

The former president’s comment, “Ranil slams Harini, questioning her knowledge of Sri Lanka’s Constitution,” rings hollow, akin to declaring an operation successful while the patient dies. Ranil Wickremesinghe, despite his supposed constitutional expertise, failed to curb the rampant corruption and abuses perpetuated by his ministers—not to mention the infamous Central Bank bond scandal. His proclaimed mastery of the Constitution falls woefully short, given that he effectively shielded wrongdoers, offering refuge to crooks and criminals under his watch. He who ruined the grand old UNP incorporated by his grandpa D S Senanayake. Under his tenure as the leader many seniors of the party joined governments but he continued hold as the leader of UNP. Hilarious isn't it.

By his heinous behaviour, pina had showed the world that he has no regard for the constitution and that he would take the law into his own hands. The constitution does not give anyone the right or the authority to go on the rampage and set fire to libraries as he did in Jaffna in 1981; or to go on killing sprees as he did at balatanda during 1987/89. Nor does it give anyone the right to cancel elections that have been called, as he did in 2022. The constitutions does not give anyone the right to rob banks in broad daylight as well. The list is endless. Even if he knows the constitution, he does not honour it.

Some of the comments made in this column is out of context . What Ranil is questioning is whether it is necessary to obtain approval of officials for the cabinet to make decisions on a salary hike for public servants. The members of the JVP/NPP having a smattering knowledge of the constitution have made blunders of many things since they are just learning and mistakes will be galore the end result would be disaster to the country. It seems that these newcomers are following the proverb "don't teach your grandmother to such eggs" if you do not know know be humble enough to learn from veterans who have passed this stage instead of balking out because you have some qualifications!!!!!!!!

Harini is a well qulified lady who holds a PHD unlike Ranil who does not have proper qualifications. Just a cheap Law degree holder. He should be dumped into the garbage bin because no one wants him any more in pliitics.
