Ruwan denies using govt. vehicle

Colombo, September 27 (Daily Mirror) - Former Senior Adviser to the President on Climate Change, Ruwan Wijewardene, denied allegations yesterday that he had used a government vehicle during his tenure in the advisory role.

"The statement is false. I never used a government vehicle, nor did I receive a salary. I only utilized the office space, nothing more," he told the Daily Mirror.

He further clarified that he used his personal vehicles for official duties as well.

As far as I remember, NPP said,one day after sworn in, the first thing they do is stop privileges for parliamentarians,but it seems not happening that soon

Please wait with patience. It is not even a week since the NPP victory. A civilised society will give notice to evacuate first. This will be followed by actin if not compiled. There a large number of misuse or over generous perks that have been given by previous corrupt leaders such as Ranil. To cancel them will take time.

Good and should be appreciated. However, all others should be checked. If any payment done as an advisor, it should have been documented before monthly payment. If not done, all salaries paid should be withdrawn with interest including vehicle cost

The NPP would be better served just getting on with the job and deliver rather than wasting time trying to sling mud at opponents. Thought they had a change for heart and tact, but some of the old rump and behaviors still seems to entrenched in their administration.

Anura should issue a gazette notice giving a deadline to all the ex-politicians, ex-presidents, governors, heads if govt depts ti hand over all govt vehicles and also houses they occupy which are govt properties. Also, it is a known fact that Ranil had appointed expelled govt MPs as advisors for him, paying salaries and allowing them to use govt vehicles. Waste of tax-payers money.These too should be investigated and appropriate actions should be onitiated to recover vehicles and such payment. Do it on priority basis.
