SJB allege irregularities with counting of second preference votes

Colombo, September 22 (Daily Mirror) - Whilst alleging that there have been irregularities with regard to the second preference vote count at the Presidential Elections 2024, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) today said legal action will be taken if the necessity arises.

SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara told a briefing today that the second count has begun in some counting centers without his party’s agents.

“We requested that the second count should take place in front of our party agents. However our agents have not been allowed to enter the counting centers,” he said.

Sir this preferential voting is a modern term for pinna chance !!! You know honestly on the first count AKD has won in almost 1.3 mil vote margin ..... Don't be kind mahinda pappa and ranil uncle ...accept the defeat with dignity and work towards a better team for the next election. Why sajith lost??? Coz he took all the goons towards him... If sajith alone would have asked he would have had a better result. All the leeches called the joint parties were sajith's downfall !!!! Just accept that your leader is not able to attract floating voters and youth. It is high time for Sajith to say good bye to party leadership and hand it over to someone else. He may function as a member of that party but not suitable to be the leader anymore. Same applies to Ranil. He should go home without messing with SL politics.

Now now, that's not being gentlemanly. There was absolutely no chance for Sajith to get over 1.3 million votes with the second and third preferences. So accept defeat. Now concentrate on winning the parliamentary election to stay in contention to run a government with a PM. A word of caution though - beware how your nomination lists are prepared, cos the cross overs who have done nothing substantial will demand their pound of flesh at the expense of your own people.

It is doubtful the second preference count could result in SJB obtaining 1.3 Miilion votes to set off the shortfall it is lagging behind NPP. Therefore going to courts will create unnecessary problems and delay the announcing the winner (Anura) as the President. May be it is the fault of Election Commission not to allow the presence of SJB agents when the second count was in progress. But then how to get 1.3 M votes to defeat Anura. It is best for the country to accept defeat and allow Anura to take oath and allow the new President to carry out his duties in the interest of the country.

The vote gap is too wide to make any difference either way. It is smart not to also Jeopardize the chances at the General Election by trying to close the stable door when the horse has bolted. Ranjith Madduma Bandara, most of these guys behind you on this jumped on board the SJB during the Presidential election campaign and only have self-interest in common. They don't mean well to you nor Sajith.

Stop crying and creating unnecessary issues. If you do that people will punish you all at the election. Just accept people’s verdict and let NPP to fulfill people’s expectations. If they fail, then come up with a better solution and ask people to vote for you. Your this kind of behaviour is the very reason people rejected you all. Just learn the message.

You could not have bridged the gap of 1.3 Million votes in the preferential votes, unless you had borrowed Ranils votes, also note Ranil would have givenhis votes to AKD and not you 8f he had an option to do so, no crying foul me graceful in defeat and accept the peoples mandate and respect the people's wishes. There were legislators who had accepted that AKD will he the 9th executive president. Stop wasting money and time and work towards the parliamentary elections and try to form a Govt and work with the president for the betterment of the country, as your policies and NPP policies are not far apart in creating an export oriented economy.
