Colombo, November 19 (Daily Mirror) - Security was increased this morning outside the official residence of former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake in Battaramulla, anticipating protests over the gazetting of his name for one of the two National List seats.

The Election Commission yesterday gazetted Karunanayake's name for one of the two National List seats allocated to the New Democratic Front (NDF) following last week’s Parliamentary Elections.

Government is not doing a favour. Because of the current security threat, he is being provided additional security. It will be withdrawn once the threat is over and he will get security like a ordinary MP. He will have to face the wrath of the law if it is proven that he was corrupt and engaged in frauds.

Is security always provided like this when a citizen is threatened ? Why special privileges for him? Who is he? Now trying to enter parliament through the back door without party support. He can lodge a complaint with police and stay inside.
