Suspect nabbed with 600,000 capsules of prescription drugs



Colombo, October 10 (Daily Mirror) - A 44-year-old person was arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy and Police Special Task Force (STF) with 600,000 capsules of prescription drugs worth Rs. 60 million, suspected to be sold targeting the youth and school children.

The suspect has been identified as a resident of Mannar.

Further investigations resulted in the seizure of a lorry used to peddle drugs in the Borella area.

The arrest was made based on information received by Naval Intelligence. The search operation was conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy in coordination with the Police STF. 

The suspect, along with the capsules of prescription drugs and the lorry, was handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau, Colombo for onward legal action.
