Colombo, October 30 (Daily Mirror) - Even though it is often claimed that the political system of the country needs to be changed, when a new system is brought in, it simply adapts to the ways of the existing government, National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), MP Namal Rajapaksa said.
Addressing the media, he said that if a political hunt is underway, they will follow the law by appearing before the court and seeking judicial assistance.
"The judiciary is independent, and no one in the country has the ability to interfere with it. We are ready for any inquiry and are not complaining," he said.
“We are not in politics to sit in the Opposition. We have the majority and will bring the majority of members to parliament. The SLPP has now become the decisive political factor in the country. I am contesting the parliamentary election representing the Hambantota District, and the responsibility of leading the party has been given to me,” Rajapaksa said.
“We have already given five years to maintain the Presidency. There is no one left to topple the government, since those involved in the 'aragalaya' have now become part of the government. So there is no one to lead an ‘aragalaya’ anymore,” he added..
