CPC filling stations to dispense fuel from July 21 under QR Code, vehicle’s last number: Fuel Station Owners

Dispensing fuel through the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) filling stations will commence on July 21 and it will take place according to the QR code and the last number on the vehicles' number plates, Fuel Station Owners' Association (FSOA) Chairman Kumara Rajapaksa today said.

Therefore, he requested the public not to wait in queues as arrangements have been made to dispense fuel from that date.

He further said that the tokens issued by the army will be nullified from 21 onwards.

"Under the QR code system, vehicle owners would get fuel for two days. The fuel will be provided under a quota system. Accordingly, he said that the government has planned to provide adequate fuel to all petrol sheds in Sri Lanka.

The vehicles will be refuelled under a quota system. The person who gets the QR code needs to present it and get fuel from any location.

"It is a long-term plan, and therefore, the chairman requested the public not to queue up at filling stations creating unwanted issues," he said.

The registered vehicles will be dispensed fuel in the volume determined according to the fuel quota. As a result, CPC filling stations will not issue fuel to any vehicle in order to fill their tanks.

The pump operators at the CPC filling stations across the country are currently undergoing training to operate this QR code from the CPC officials. We are trying to provide smart phones to respective filling stations, but there is a shortage in the market.

However, we will be providing the service from July 21 without inconveniencing the people. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
