These Chinese power plants were refurbished units, Chinese sold to SL when MR was president. I belive they have served the lifespan designed for.
All deals and commissions.

The potential disruption caused by these frequent breakdowns, have been highlighted in many occasions , but have received scant attention. With the problems of getting coal the potential disruption was inevitable even if the plants do not breakdown. But the only feasible option of mitigating the damage in the short term which is a much accelerated deployment of roof top solar is being obstructed by the key officials and politicians who refuse to accept the ground realities of the unavoidable cost of such deployment and the level of feed in tariff to ensure the necessary investment. The tariff levels proposed by the professional committee appointed is being ignored and numbers picked out from thin air with no attempt to substantiation are being discussed . These tariff levels will ensure no investor would come in and forcing the deployment of greatly more expensive emergency power, to which the PUCSL has been pushed now by the loss of one more coal power plant.

75 years from independence and still we are dependent on others for help. What we have achieved is, violence, suppressions, murders of opponents, corruptions, looting, etc.

It is only Mahinda Raja(no) who brought all latest machinery and power plants to Sri Lanka. We are thankful to the great Mahinda clan. These are small irrelevant news, compared to the strides the nation took during his leadership.
