Members of the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have sent Letters of Demand to the newly appointed Chairman of the National Sports Council Arjuna Ranatunga, claiming Rs. 2 billion, the SLC said.

The SLC said that the Executive Committee of SLC has decided to take appropriate legal action against the National Sports Council Chairman over comments and alleged accusations made by Ranatunga against the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket during a recent TV programme.

The decision to take legal action was taken at an emergency meeting held today, the SLC said.

I think SL should confine Cricket for local entertainment only. Before 1982, there was beautiful cricket between schools and clubs and occasional whistle stop tourist teams, with hardly any money involved. Over the past 25 years it's all about money with a little bit of cricket - cutthroating, overseas flats, BMWs, and greed followed.

This should be interesting to watch. Ranil's ex-UNP man Arujuna, a purely political appointment to the role of chairman. I expect government will have lawyers and judge smash the money rich SLC whatever court case it tries. SLC is disreputable enough. Kusal Mendis after running over the elderly cyclyst would be banished from team forever in any country with good and fair democracy (likes of UK, New Zealand, and Australia). On the other hand, SLC show come Kusal, our country just doesn't have any talent, if you get away with it, no crime matters. So, you play, your paying Rs. 100,000 for that man's life is plenty for your high status as cricketer. In India and Pakistan where cricket is like a religion, and cricketer can do any wrong to public like here and get away with it.
