Instigators

I recall having written, some years back, about the green-eyed monsters, referring to discontented women and men who were envious of their friends or anybody who was having a fun time. Ms. Loveless was one of them. She was always depressed, no love in her life, not incredibly attractive and plain to look at and resentful of anyone having an enjoyable time.

Social astronauts were another.  All they wanted were invitations to hobnob with anyone in prominent position, society couples or a diplomat lurking around ready to entertain the local hoi polloi or their likes. These wanted to dress to impress and failed most times.  Nevertheless, being spotted at a soiree was an achievement.

Of late, I have come across another breed.  The Instigators.  They are well-educated men and women, who have held or hold good positions in their chosen professions.

Unfortunately, with all their success, they have never managed to keep their marriages and are usually divorced and preying on other people’s husbands or wives. They also try to be the soulmate to many and have a nasty habit of setting one friend against the other, by planting seeds of doubt prefaced with ‘please do not quote me or even mention I told you.’
Then sit back and enjoy the resultant damage.  Most senior people know what to believe and what not to and do not fall into the trap.  However, this does not stop the Instigator from attempting to stir the pot many times over.

Times are difficult and there is enough to cope with, with all the goings on in the country.  To balance all these characters in your life just adds to the challenges in life.  Oh! Colombo indeed.
