For many, Feng Shui is just a fad although a lot of people adapt it in their design and layout. One could look at vaastu or Feng Shui purely from the design perspective which prescribes unhindered flow of light, air and in turn enhances the feel and energy of the space.
When the going gets tough, business is going slow, money flow blocked and disharmony exists at home, it’s a clear case of excess amount of bad energy accumulated and its time to check the Feng Shui of your space.
If you are in the process of re-dong an existing home or designing a new home, you could bring in the elements of vaastu and Feng Shui in a subtle and general way, but if your existing space be it home or office is causing stress and things seem to be going bad to worse you can no doubt mitigate the problem and control the adverse situation and smoothen the disharmony.
Feng Shui design speaks of organizing the space and in turn the elements which exist within your space and it could be simple orientation of your furniture to a complete makeover of your interiors. An important aspect to Feng Shui is balance. To facilitate good chi (energy), there must be a balance of extremes or opposites (like yin and yang), and a balance of the five Chinese elements (fire, water, wood, earth, and metal).
When considering the interior, look again at the yin and yang features of this building. Is there a lot of open space? If this is the case, office space and conference rooms should have more yin-like qualities: lower ceilings, side and task lighting with minimal overhead lighting, or effective use of natural light. Furniture and accessories can then be used to further balance the elements.
There are few essential tips which guide you towards good Feng Shui design of your space:-
Feng Shui design should always be done having the people who will be in it in mind as the occupants' comfort must be a priority.
You should be guided by the compass directions and the areas it indicates within that space in order to distribute objects and furniture in it.
An interior design uses furniture and objects which may contain the different elements hence these elements should always be in harmony.
You should choose colours according to what they symbolize and represent as different colours represent different elements and have different symbolisms.
Good Feng Shui design does not allow dark spots in it since that doesn't allow chi flowing properly.
Couches and chairs should always be placed in a way that allows those who sit on them to easily look at the door.
Correct Feng Shui design would allow people to feel good and comfortable in that interior without really noticing it and should be natural and balanced, providing comfort to those occupying it.
