Sri Lanka’s Manmitha shines bright



Sri Lanka’s Manmitha Senadhi Jinasena, a high school student in Maryland, USA, recently made headlines by clinching a silver medal at the prestigious USA Karate National Championship 2024. 
Standing out as the sole female winner representing Maryland State, Manmitha’s remarkable achievement comes just a year after she embarked on her karate journey under the tutelage of Senshi Karate Do.
Having developed a passion for karate at the tender age of 8, Manmitha’s dedication and talent were on full display during her debut tournament at the national level. Her ultimate dream is to showcase her skills at the Olympics in the future.


Beyond her Martial Arts prowess, Manmitha is a multifaceted individual with interests in theatre, music, singing, writing, and art. She has graced the stage in popular productions like “Mama Mia” and “Radium Girls” at her high school, showcasing her talent and versatility.
With aspirations to pursue higher education in Robotic Engineering, this talented young star is undoubtedly set to continue making waves both on and off the karate mat. Manmitha, who is a grandchild of welknown actress Malani Fonseka, had won several international and local medals while she was in 
Sri Lanka.
