Prepare to be enchanted

German missions across the globe celebrate German Unity Day as well as the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The German Embassy in Colombo is marking these special events with a concert by renowned German classical quartet Salut Salon on 2 October, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the British School Auditorium.

Ambassador Juergen Morhard is confident the audience will fall in love with Salut Salon’s unique and memorable performance which combines comedy and drama, deep emotion and light entertainment, playful sketches and winning virtuosity. “They are truly an amazing talent and we look forward to an evening of classical seduction.”

"Tickets (1500, 1000, 500 - balcony) are available at the German Embassy, 40, Alfred House Avenue, Colombo 3; Goethe Institut, 39 Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7 and at the British School, 63, Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 8."

The quartet comprising, Angelika Bachman (Violin), Iris Siegfried (Viola), Friederike Dany (Cello) and Olga Shkrygunova (Piano) began performing as an ensemble in 2002, and won acclaim for their unique, virtuosic way of fusing classics with fun. Salut Salon debunks musical conventions with charming self-irony, passionate classical prowess and acrobatic virtuosity. They combine classical music with movie soundtracks, folk tunes and their own chansons.
Salut Salon will perform their new programme “Night of Destiny,” uniting in spirit with the illustrious souls of musical history, such as Antonin Dvorak and his “Slavic Dance”, Franz Liszt and his “Mephisto Waltz” and Claude Debussy and his “Clair de Lune.” With Camille Saint-Saëns and his frenetic “Danse Macabre” they explore the kingdom of shadows between Life and Death.
