25-year-old American model Udara Perera was born and bred in the US though her parents are from Sri Lanka.  The reigi
ning Miss New York Intercontinental has made a name for herself in beauty, commercial, editorial, fashion, lifestyle and promotional modelilng as well as runway and acting.  Udara has modelled for various clients including Mizani by L’oreal, Teen People Magazine and Blackleaf Organic.  Udara first got into modelling when she visited Sri Lanka in 2006 and did a cover shoot for a local newspaper.   
Although she is passionate about it, modelling is a hobby for Udara who  holds a Master in Public Health degree in Global and Community Health as well as two Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Interdisciplinary Studies: Public and Community Health and a minor in Psychology.  Her ambition is to continue her studies and become a Doctor of Public Health.
In 2011, Udara was a runner up and the judge’s pick for PETA’s (People of the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door Contest and her picture was featured on Yahoo India.  Udara also takes part in pageantry and was Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Global in 2013, where she won the title of Miss Popularity.  She currently holds the title Miss New York Intercontinental title holder.   
While Udara was in Sri Lanka recently for her internship with the Ministry of Health, she modelled for Sri Lanka’s leading bridal designer Padmini Ramanayake.

I make at least three trips to Sri Lanka every year, because I love this country where the fashion and glamour industries have grown manifold, especially in terms of beauty treatment. But I find that trusted brands of beauty care are rare here. Recently Padmini Ramanayake dressed me up in Kandyan and Indian bridal attire which I was so passionate about.
