Responding to reports that China has given one dose of Sinopharm vaccine at a higher price ($15) to Sri Lanka than it has given to Bangladesh ($10), Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals State Minister Professor Channa Jayasuma said there is no such an agreement to give the vaccine at $10 for Bangladesh.
While saying that it will not be long before the hospitals are flooded with patients, completely inundated and the medical staff are stretched way beyond their capacity, resulting in a serious breakdown of our health sector, Medical Professionals demanded the Government to go for a two-week lockdown or curfew.
While expressing that the country is currently at a crucial juncture in terms of COVID-19 situation, Senior Consultant Physician at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama said situation would end up in a major catastrophe if proper measures are not taken right now.
