State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya assured yesterday that salaries of non-executive public sector employees would be paid on January 25 as usual without any delay.

He said salaries of executive level public sector employees would also be paid on the same day or with a day’s delay.

He said Rs. 79 billion out of the total Rs. 93 billion has already been allocated for the purpose.

The Minister said even though the government revenue for this month was estimated to be Rs. 145 billion, the Customs Department and the Excise Department have already informed that their expected monthly revenue would be reduced by Rs. 10 billion.

He said there was a Rs. 480 billion deficit in government revenue in January.
