EDB launches financial assistance scheme for agri and fisheries value addition



The Export Development Board (EDB) today announced the launch of a financial assistance scheme for the agriculture and fisheries export enterprises so they can move up the value chain.

The EDB has called for proposals for collaboration from the agriculture and fisheries products manufacturers and exporters who are interested in introducing innovative high value products and expanding the export basket.

In a notice, the EDB said it wishes to facilitate Research and Development (R&D) initiatives under a cost-sharing basis.

Selected companies will receive a grant up to a maximum of Rs. 1 million to cover 50 percent of the cost of; conducting R&D activities to develop high value products jointly with reputed local research institutions engaged in innovative product development, and acquiring high value innovative product already developed by local R&D institution for commercialization and export purposes.

The deadline of the application for the financial assistance scheme is 15 February 2021.
