The National Academy of Sciences Sri Lanka (NASSL), an NGO incorporated by an Act of Parliament (1988), consists of eminent scientists elected as Fellows.   
At this year’s Induction ceremony held on 09th September 2023 at the OPASL, Professor Nadira Karunaweera, President NASSL, spoke on the mandate of the NASSL.  The eight new Fellows inducted elaborated on their contribution to science.    
The keynote speaker Professor Buddhi Marambe of the University of Peradeniya spoke on ‘Water, Fertilizer and Agriculture’, elaborated on the current sad state of agriculture resulting from ad hoc decisions taken without scientific basis and provided recommendations for future including telecast of planting times to farmers.
