Pathman who was born in Jaffna in 1938 and raised in a family of three boys, passed away in Hertogenboschon, in the Netherlands on  July 19, 2019.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, the family fell apart and Pathman was placed in a boarding school from the age of 6 to 16.

He felt quite lonely during this period. After his school years, Pathman went to England on his own initiative, with a letter of recommendation from his father to learn a trade in the car industry. A passion that Pathman had taken over from his father and grandfather. He quickly integrated into the English society through, among other things, his social attitude, helpfulness and humour.

Every inch a gentleman!

The nightlife was not strange to him, that brought him to the next phase of his life.

He met the Dutch Au pair Dilly and opted for intercultural love marriage. They led an independent life there and had two children: Mark and Lisiane. The young family ended their happy life in England abruptly, to take care of Dilly’s parents in the Netherlands.

Pathman did this without any hesitation; which characterizes him: Always flexible and positive. Pathman was a striking appearance in Haarsteeg because of his skin colour and his passion for cars. Pathman also managed to adapt effortlessly in the Netherlands. He turned out to be a true bon vivant and made many friends. He started a career at Lips and later went to work at Michelin. He spent all his free time rebuilding and restoring many old-timers.

Pathman was a world citizen, together with Dilly and the children, he travelled around all continents to visit friends and families all over the world.

These encounters remained meaningful despite the fact that people sometimes did not see each other for years. Pathman loved his six grandchildren, Nigel, Shannon, Dario, Obri, Boca and Romee: a real sweet and always involved Grandpa. Nothing was too much for him.

Unfortunately, Dilly was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and died on Christmas Day 2014. With the death of his beloved Dilly, his life was halved and he was no longer the old one.
However, life with his children and grandchildren was still very dear to him. But then fate struck here too. Due to a seemingly minor accident, after having conquered many subsequent complications, most unexpectedly Pathman had to let go of his beautiful life.

We will always love you and Mum.

 Mark, Diana, Nigel and Shannon,
Lisiane, Dario, Obri, Boca and Romee
