Six year old Minuki Siyathra Ekanayake is suffering from Thalassemia. The hemoglobin level of her body is declining rapidly as a result.
Dr. Lalindra Goonaratne, Consultant Haematologist and Director of Bone Marrow Transplant Programme has certified that the above patient will be undergoing a matched related donor bone marrow transplant for ‘Thalassemia Major’ at Asiri Central Hospital. She is currently undergoing pre transplant work-up. The cost of the procedure will be in the region of Rs. 5,650,000 provided there are no complications. 
Minuki’s mother said the only solution to rescue her child is transplantation of bone marrow from persons who are hundred per cent with the same genes. She said her second child’s genes are matched hundred per cent.
