Malaweera awarded with Honorary Doctorate



Sri Lankan Cardio-respiratory Physiotherapist Mr. D.S.N. Malaweera MCSP, Chartered Physiotherapist (UK) was awarded with the Honorary Doctorate by the Lincoln University of Malaysia on February 23 at the Annual University Convocation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This Honorary Degree was conferred to Malaweera in recognition of the services rendered locally and internationally by him during the past 4 decades. He retired from the National Health Services (NHS) UK, worked as a specialised Intensive Care Clinical Team Leader and a Clinical Educator for almost 2 decades. 


Currently he is serving as a visiting lecturer for three state universities (Colombo, Kelaniya and KDU) in Sri Lanka. He recently published a book titled “Therapeutic Interventions in Critical Care”-a clinical hand-book that’s recommended to be used by ICU staff and for In-Service training, by the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka. He has conducted many clinical workshops and in-Service training sessions (free of charge) in the majority of Teaching hospitals in Sri Lanka. 


He is a product of St. Aloysius College, Galle and Rahula College, Matara. He is incumbent President of Sri Lanka Society of Physiotherapy (Member Organization of World Physiotherapy), and represented Sri Lanka at its international congress in Geneva.


Lineal University is the Malaysian establishment of the Abraham Lincoln chain of Universities, has worldwide recognition and was placed 35th at the World University Impact Rankings. It was among the Top 25 performers in student mobility (highest ranked in Aias) and is an ISO certified academic institution,
