‘Meet the Author’ Dr. Herath sheds light on artistic connections between India-Sri Lanka



The 5th edition of the monthly event ‘Meet the Author’ featuring the esteemed author Dr. Manoranjana Herath took place recently.

Dr. Herath is a distinguished visual artist and a senior lecturer in the Department of Sculpture at the University of Visual and Performing Arts in Colombo, Sri Lanka.   
With nearly three decades of experience in the field, he has earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the University of Kelaniya, a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the University of Delhi, and a PhD from the University of Kelaniya.  
According to a press release issued by the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka, Dr. Herath, during the session, spoke about his book titled “Similar Images in Visual Arts in India and Sri Lanka,” which he authored in Sinhala. His profound insights and scholarly analysis shed light on the artistic connections and shared visual culture between these two neighbouring countries.   
The event was an engaging and intellectually stimulating experience for all attendees.  
Shri Tarun Chandra Kalita, a highly esteemed senior disciple of the legendary Padmabhushan Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta of Kolkata, delivered a mesmerizing Sarod recital that captivated everyone present at the Centre. His masterful performance, infused with deep emotion and technical brilliance, left the audience spellbound, creating an unforgettable musical experience that resonated long after the final note.
