Towards togetherness, oneness, tolerance sans manners unkind 
Wishing wishful warm wishes to dear mankind 
Echoing peace, unity, prosperity, fearlessness everywhere 
New beginnings, opportunities, the pledge to transform nation in care 
Task for a revolutionised Sri Lanka need honest sacrifice 
Youthful attitudes from each to make country a real surprise 
Twenty-Twenty end fuelling revenge, embrace virtues, compassion, 
Whatever weighty affairs internal let no external intervention 
Each one of us an instrument of peace, unity, an egalitarian society 
Now ought to root in every heart forgiveness, selflessness in dignity. 
Tremendously let’s forge ahead for a greener motherland, changing destiny 
Year yearning to yield marvellously, creating new records in history
