Charles H. De Soysa

The commemoration of the 186th birth anniversary of the great Sri Lankan Philanthropist Charles Henry De Soysa (1936- 1890) will take place on Thursday, March 3, at 3.30 pm at the CH De Soysa Statue, De Soysa Circus, Colombo. 

This ceremony which has taken place in an unbroken tradition of 104 years since 1919 is organised by the CH De Soysa Commemoration Committee (CHDSCC) comprising the staff, students (both past and present) and well-wishers of Prince and Princess of Wales Colleges, Moratuwa and descendants of CH De Soysa. Professor Kapila Perera, Secretary Ministry of Education will  be the Guest of Honour. After the laying of floral tributes and garlanding of the statue, there will be a commemoration meeting at the Baptist Church Hall across the road, chaired by Professor Sanath Lamabadusuriya at which a commemorative oration will be delivered by  Professor Kapila Perera. The meeting will conclude at 4.30 pm followed by fellowship and refreshments.
