Among the guests who attended the event was Prof. Janak Vidanarachchi, Senior Treasurer of IAAS, officers from the Young Farmers’ Club Headquarters, Department of Agriculture, and officers from Provincial Department of Agriculture, Central province.
At the event Cavendish banana, pepper and areca plants were distributed among farmers as economically valuable plants. This was done with the aim of boosting agricultural productivity and sustainability.
In addition to this distribution, an informative session on Cavendish banana cultivation was conducted; providing valuable insights into sustainable agricultural practices. The programme culminated in a ceremonial planting event, emphasising the importance of environmental stewardship and community involvement. There were many events on that which were organised by the students if the Vocational Training Centre, Wawinna.
The Initiative was largely to promote sustainable agriculture and enhance environmental awareness among participants; aligning with the global theme of preserving and nurturing our planet.
