Red, an exhibition of contemporary visual arts by a group of twenty women artists, will be inaugurated at the J.D. A. Perera Gallery, University of Visual and Performing Arts, on August 9 at 5 p.m. Red has been chosen thematically by the artists because they feel it is a colour which symbolic of a gamut of human feelings and activities such as love, revolution, strength, anger and terror. They also feel that cultural and commercial forces have associated women with the colour red all over the world.

The exhibition will be open to the public on August 10 and 11 from 9 am to 7 pm. It will open on August 9 with a display of performance art.
The participating artists are – Amitha Indirani, Darshika Udani, Damayanthi Weerasinghe, Fasmina Amir, Gayani Samurdhika, Harsha Manojani, Inoka Herath, Janaki Nadishani, Janani Cooray, Kalani Dodenthenna, Kavisha Nandanage, Lakni Kumarasiri, Lasanthi Kaluthanthri, Manori Jayathilake, Niluka Weerasinghe, Nuthsara Rajapakse, Roshitha Dissanyake, Sivanusha Sivalingam, Sithara Priyadharshani, Tharanga Gayathri, Thulanjani Nirosha and Visasani Dissanyake.
