Rotaract Club Colombo West celebrated Golden Jubilee

Rotaract Club of Colombo West marked their 50 years on August 10. The Logo of the 50th year was unveiled at the event, which preceded the inaugural address of the 50th President of the club.
Completion of 50 years of service was symbolised by the Installation ceremony of the 50th President Rtr. Santhamurthy Baalumurthy and his board of directors.
Speaking to the writer Rtr. Santhamurthy Baalumurthy shared his views of being a rotaractor. Also he highlighted his visions of being the 50th President of the Club as well.
“We celebrate the 50th year in service of the Rotaract Club of Colombo West to mark the efforts of numerous past presidents and members in the past years that have brought us and the service identity of the club to where we are today. We celebrate not only the service and our existence in this movement for the past 50 years but we highlight the strength of volunteerism and the collective effort of our member’s contribution in terms of finances, time, resources and efforts,” added Baalumurthy.
Moreover he explained about the theme of his year and he illustrated about his visions as well.
“This year as I take the presidency we are moving from the year theme ‘Engage, equip, elevate’. What I plan to do in my tenure is add quality to our membership and work towards aligning our membership goals through our projects to the goals of the Rotaract in Sri Lanka. Also to contribute largely towards the bigger picture for which this movement stands,” added Baalumurthy. The Secretary of the Rotaract Club of Colombo West Rtr. Divyanga Dahanayake shared her views and experience of becoming a rotaractor. Also she motivated the young and enthusiastic volunteers to expand their circles by joining with Rotaract.
“Here at the Colombo West Rotaract Club, we are strong proponents of community involvement. We aspire to be leaders in assisting the communities in which we live. Many people want to get active in their community. But they sometimes are unsure about what clubs to join or how to start. The ideal setting is Colombo West. Thus as the 50th Secretary of Colombo West Rotaract Club I would like to benefit society by engaging in a number of activities that are distinct from secretarial duties,” added Dahanayake.
Volunteering is a great thing but as individuals we have to be mindful from where to initiate your volunteering life.
