Sail Lanka Charter, The Serendipity Collection Sail Lanka Charter and The Serendipity Experiences volunteers
Sail Lanka Charter joined forces with The Serendipity Collection Sail Lanka Charter and The Serendipity Experiences on World Ocean Day, June 8th, for an impactful ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ (CSR) initiative. The collaborative effort tackled a critical issue: cleaning up Crow Island Beach in Colombo 15, an area heavily affected by pollution.
This collaborative effort is aimed at raising awareness of coastal pollution, marine life, and the importance of preserving this area for the benefit of the future of Sri Lanka’s local ecology and biodiversity. Employees of all three organizations came together to tackle this pressing issue, working to restore the beach’s natural beauty, clean up waste and promote environmental guidelines within the community.
Sharing his thoughts on the initiative, Mario Stubbs, the Managing Director of Sail Lanka Charter and the C.E.O. and Founder of The Serendipity Collection and The Serendipity Experiences stated that:”Taking part in the World Ocean Day clean-up at Crow Island Beach was truly inspiring. Through our collaboration across Sail Lanka Charter, The Serendipity Collection, and The Serendipity Experiences, we highlighted the essential need to protect our coastlines. This effort reinforced our dedication to marine conservation and sustainable practices.”
During the clean-up, volunteers removed waste from the beach and nearby waterways, carefully sorting and responsibly disposing of the collected debris. This initiative not only demonstrated the organizations’ commitment to eco-friendly best practices, but also on the education of the community by using guides on the critical importance of protecting marine environments. The volunteers left with a deep sense of accomplishment and a greater understanding of the impact of local to global pollution, which reinforced their commitment to sustain practices and inspired them to continue advocating for environmental conservation.
