Residents of the Ja- Ela area staged a protest yesterday in Ja- Ela town against the clearing and filling of 700 acres of the Muthurajawela wetland to construct a golf course and several other buildings. The environmental organisation to protect Muthurajawela wetland “Surakimu Muthurajawela “ had organised the protest.
Dogs of the Sri Lanka Airforce Dogs Unit that successfully completed narcotics and explosive detection training were exhibited at the Air Force Base Katunayake today. Handing over of certificates to the handlers of the dogs was held under the patronage of Air Vice Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

Cargo weight is declared as 12,140 kg.
