12 PNB officers remanded over drug trafficking charges

The 12 officers attached to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB), who were arrested for alleged drug trafficking charges, were ordered to be remanded till July 21 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratna yesterday.  

Earlier, the Magistrate permitted the CID to detain and question the 12 officers till July 8.   

Meanwhile, the Inspector of Police who was arrested on Tuesday was ordered to be detained for questioning.   

A total of 21 suspects including police officers are currently in police custody over drug trafficking charges.
