Approval process to be streamlined for road development

The Ministry of Highways is looking towards ways and means to expedite the supply of aggregate and gravel needed for road development through faster approvals from the relevant institutions, Ministry of Highways said yesterday.   
Ministry sources said the subject Minister Johnston Fernando requested the Ministry of Defense, Department of Wildlife, National Geological Survey and Mines Bureau and the Central Environment Authority to introduce a smooth running programme to obtain approvals for supply of materials needed for road construction.   
This decision was taken following a meeting held at the ministry of highways during the weekend
