Army personnel arrested for operating illegal timber stall

A group of army personnel running an illegal timber stall were arrested by Priyankaragama Police during a raid on an army Corporal’s house.

The four suspects included two Corporals and a soldier, and one of the Corporals was its owner. The other two army personnel were workers in the timber shed.

Police said they carried out the raid on information from the public that an army Corporal was running an illegal timber stall and two other army personnel were working there.

The suspects were from Halmillawewa, Vijithapura, and Galgamuwa areas.

They were to be produced before Thambuttegama Magistrate yesterday.
